The dance workshops and the Saturday show will be held at Boogiezone Utopia, 1951 W Carson St., Torrance, California (in Los Angeles county.) Carson Street itself is just a busy, suburban thoroughfare street. But the neighborhood (Old Town Torrance) behind the studio is nice with little streets filled with bakeries, restaurants and shops.
Flamenco West: The store is located at 316 Culver Blvd., Playa Del Rey, CA 90293. It's one block from the beach with lots of quaint restaurants and cafes.
Accommodations are not included.
However, there are many economical and lovely rentals via Airbnb and Vrbo in Old Town Torrance, which is walking distance to the studio.
Other options include:
- *Hotels along Hawthorne Blvd. in Torrance, about 5 minute drive to studio.
- *Hotels in Redondo Beach, walking distance to the beach, about 12 minute drive to studio. You can choose either those near the Harbor or those along Pacific Coast Highway.
Transportation is not included.
I recommend you stay close to the studio and team up with others to Lyft on various excursions or rent a car.
If you're flying in, then go to LAX or Long Beach.
There are no refunds for workshops to students who cancel or fail to attend. Students who cancel within 14 days of a workshop start date will be given a refund less the non-refundable deposit. Rina Orellana Flamenco & the Online Flamenco Studio reserve the right to cancel or change the date of any workshop due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. We will do our best to notify registrants in a timely manner should this occur, and full refunds will be issued.
Questions? Just email firstname.lastname@example.org
Answers to your questions. I'll add them as they come in!
Will you record the class for us so everyone isn't using their phones?
No, there will not be any recordings of the classes. I will have moments at the end of the classes (or hour) to allow you to record whatever you learned. You just can't record the entire class.
Are significant others allowed to any of the events?
Significant others are NOT allowed for the dance workshops and the tapas reception. But the ARE welcome to the shopping excursions and the optional flamenco show.
Will you be doing these intensives annually or bi-annually?
We'll see how this one goes! If it's successful and there's a demand for a biannual event, then I'll do it. Otherwise it would be an annual workshop. My ultimate dream is to also curate a trip to Madrid!
What will the weather be like in Southern California in October?
October is tricky because sometimes it feels like summer and sometimes it feels like fall! If it's summer-like, then it's in the mid to high 70's during the day and cooler at night. Sometimes there are heatwaves, so it could be in the 80's even. If it's more like fall, then it's in the 60's with cooler nights.
What do I need to bring?
All you really need to bring to the workshop are your dance shoes and lots of water, maybe even a snack. You DON'T have to worry about fancy skirts (unless you want to,) mantones (shawls), castañuelas (castanets,) or abanicos (fans) since we'll be working in the rhythm of Tangos and Bulerias. I'll be wearing what I always wear in my videos ;)
