FLAMENCO DANCE INTENSIVE WITH RINA ORELLANA

ALL LEVELS WELCOME

We've been dancing together in the Online Flamenco Studio for awhile, but now it's time to meet in person! Join me and all your other compañeras from the studio for this immersive weekend of flamenco, flamenco and more flamenco!

Friday, Oct. 11 - Sunday, Oct 13, Torrance, California (Los Angeles)

Bring your flamenco shoes and get ready to dance, sing, clap, eat, drink and be around other amazing flamencas!

In this weekend intensive, we will lay a solid foundation, explore our artistic ranges, learn how to communicate with musicians, understand the nuances of Tangos & Bulerias, and so much more!!!

What is this live workshop and who is it for?

This is a three day flamenco dance intensive with 8 hours of instruction, appropriate for ALL LEVELS of flamenco dance. Contact Rina if you have a question about your level.

Friday, October 11, 3pm through Sunday, October 13, 3pm 

Where is it?

The dance workshops will be held at Boogiezone Utopia, 1951 W Carson St., Torrance, California (in Los Angeles county.)

Cost?

$350. Space is limited! 

What's included?

* 8 hours of instruction with a live guitarist on two days, plus a singer on the final day

  • -foundational technique with marcaje (marking) & taconeo (footwork)
  • -palmas (clapping)
  • -cante (singing)
  • -choreographies in Tangos & Bulerias por Fiesta
  • -how to improvise

* Tapas reception Friday night after class

* Optional shopping excursion to Flamenco West in Playa del Rey Saturday afternoon

* Optional flamenco show Saturday night (Tickets sold separately here.)

Accommodations?

Accommodations are not included.

However, there are many economical and lovely rentals via Airbnb and Vrbo in Old Town Torrance, which is walking distance to the studio.

Other options include:

  • *Hotels along Hawthorne Blvd. in Torrance, about 5 minute drive to studio. 
  • *Hotels in Redondo Beach, walking distance to the beach, about 12 minute drive to studio.

Cancellation Policy.  There are no refunds for workshops to students who cancel or fail to attend.  Students who cancel within 14 days of the workshop start date will be given a refund less the non-refundable deposit of $150.   Rina Orellana Flamenco & the Online Flamenco Studio reserve the right to cancel or change the date of any workshop due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances.  We will do our best to notify registrants in a timely manner should this occur, and full refunds will be issued.

Schedule

Friday, October 11, 3-5pm: WORKSHOP at Boogiezone Utopia. Foundational technique with marcaje (marking), taconeo (footwork), vueltas (turns) and palmas (clapping).

Friday, October 11, 5-6:30pm: TAPAS at Boogiezone Utopia after the workshop.

Saturday, October 12, 10am-1pm: WORKSHOP at Boogiezone Utopia. Cante y baile por Tangos y Bulerias (singing and dancing in Tangos and Bulerias.) We'll learn the structure of these palos, learn to sing a few letras (verses) and begin a choreography. Guitarist accompaniment by Kai Narezo! 

Saturday, October 12, 2:30-6pm: **OPTIONAL SHOPPING. Now is your chance to stock up on all your flamenco needs: shoes, fans, castanets, shawls and so much more at Flamenco West in Playa del Rey. Workshop fee does NOT include any shopping ;) Shop is open only by appointment and is near LAX, about 30 minute drive from studio.


Saturday, October 12 8pm: **OPTIONAL FLAMENCO SHOW. Show in the Ballroom at Boogiezone Utopia. Watch Los Angeles' finest flamenco artists with yours truly.

Spain comes to Old Town Torrance! Join us for a passionate evening of live flamenco music and dance. Featuring dancers Rina Orellana, Vanessa Albalos & Misuda Cohen and musicians Reyes Barrios & Kai Narezo & Kassandra Kocoshis. Tix $30-40 available here.

 

Sunday, October 13, 12-3pm: WORKSHOP at Boogiezone Utopia. Continuation of Tangos and Bulerias with Kai and singer, Reyes barrios. Tomaaaaaa!
